Adolescent Violence in the Home affects many families from all walks of life. The violence can be carried out by an adolescent towards parents, carers or siblings and can have a profoundly negative impact on family relationships.
Uniting Kildonan has appointed a specialist Adolescent Family Violence worker to support families who are affected by this issue. Sitting within the Integrated Family Services program, this worker provides case management, intervention and support services to young people and their families to establish non-violent ways of expressing anger and safe behaviours. Several families also take part in a 10-week support group called `Step Up' which focuses on establishing respectful and peaceful problem solving skills and ways of communicating with others.
Anyone wishing to discuss this service is encouraged to contact the Adolescent Family Violence worker on (03) 8401 0100.
