MEXICO’S rich and colourful culture will be soaked up and celebrated in a community party this weekend.
The Garden Fiesta, an initiative of Kildonan UnitingCare, is an annual event at PepperTree Place that celebrates Moreland’s diversity.
Kildonan chief executive Stella Avramopoulos said the fiesta’s Weaving Stronger Community theme reflected the venue’s values.
“PepperTree Place is a community garden and space where families and communities can come together to learn about growing and preparing fresh food, improving health and enhancing their links with the community,” she said.
“The Garden Fiesta is a chance to celebrate and be inspired by the environment around us.”
The fiesta will feature roving entertainment, garden workshops, quality plants from the PepperTree Community Nursery, market stalls and outdoor activities for children.
Musical acts will include Hana Maru, Shock Octopus, Ukulele Ewie and My Little Vertigo.
The Mexican-style fiesta will see burritos, tacos, salsa, salads and a barbecue on offer for lunch, while local, organic, handmade treats will be available from the pop-up cafe.
Visitors can knit, crochet or stitch in the Sit In Knit In space, and, for the first time, a healing hub will provide a dedicated place to pamper people with massage and holistic body treatments.
The fiesta is this Saturday from 10am-4pm at PepperTree Place, 512 Sydney Rd, Coburg.
